Salary: NJC Grade E: £30,518 - £33,699 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked) 

Working Pattern: This is a fixed term position working 18 hours per week, 39 weeks per year until 31st August 2027 (Monday to Friday) 

Fremington Primary School are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our happy and thriving team.

The successful candidate will bring experience of working in a busy, vibrant school environment and demonstrate a passion for supporting children to achieve their very best. We would be particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have experience of leading or supporting a Forest School provision, although this is not essential and we warmly welcome applications from all suitably experienced practitioners. 

About the Role 

Working under an agreed system of supervision, you will: 

  • Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities to individuals, groups and whole classes 

  • Support teachers by helping create an engaging learning environment and preparing resources 

  • Monitor, assess and record pupils’ progress, providing detailed feedback and evidence 

  • Lead small‑group interventions and support delivery of literacy, numeracy and other curriculum strategies 

  • Contribute to out‑of‑school learning activities as required 

What We’re Looking For 

We are looking for someone who can bring energy, compassion and commitment to the role.  

Essential qualities include: 

  • Experience working with children across key stages 

  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Cover Supervisor delivering whole‑class activities 

  • English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 or equivalent 

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills 

Desirable (but not essential): 

  • Previous HLTA experience 

  • Willingness to undertake relevant training 

  • First Aid qualification 

  • Awareness of health and safety practices
